Unified Command: Simplified

We peel back the layers of complexity of the most misunderstood, misapplied feature of ICS in the toolbox, Unified Command (UC). Finally, an opportunity to learn how to implement UC the way it was meant to be, complete with firsthand advice from practicing professionals.

A Unique Approach

UC is one of the most misunderstood and misapplied features in the ICS Toolbox. Spend two days learning the ins and outs of implementing UC from the Canadian Author of the curriculum and an industry practitioner. Find out what works and what doesn’t and why. Interact with other practitioners and learn their experiences.  The workshop is centered around journalists 5W’s & H methodology of six basic questions to ask when gathering information or solving a problem. The goal of this technique is to gain a factual answer to each question.

  • What: is Unified Command?
  • Who: is in Unified Command?
  • When; do we use Unified Command?
  • Why; do we use Unified Command?
  • Where; do we use Unified Command?
  • How; do we implement Unified Command?

The workshop includes:

  1. History and the Canadian context
  1. Theory
  1. Organisational options
  1. Using P.P.O.S.T to assist in UC membership decisions
  1. The UC meeting in the Planning P
  1. Media relations in UC
  1. Several group activities
  1. Much more!
